Physical Facilities for the Master’s Programs
The Master of Science in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner, Master of Science in Nursing Education, and Master of Science in Healthcare Administration programs are conducted entirely online, utilizing asynchronous learning for lectures. Each program includes a practicum component that is completed at designated SMU-affiliated clinical or facility locations.

The office serves as virtual office space for mailing and administrative needs.
Equipment Use
Students will utilize their own equipment as well as the resources available at their assigned practicum sites. The practicum sites retain ownership of all equipment and are responsible for its maintenance
Clinical and Practicum Information
Clinical practice is designed to meet program and course objectives, offering diverse settings for hands-on experience.
Practicum Hours:
- FNP Program: 750 clinical hours
- Nurse Educator Program: 140 clinical hours
- Healthcare Administration Program: 140 clinical hours
Certification Eligibility
Upon completing the FNP program, graduates are eligible to sit for the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) certification exam.
Program Duration
The programs are structured to be completed in five consecutive semesters.
