The Office of the Registrar is responsible for managing student academic records, course registration, transcripts, and graduation services. We are committed to providing accurate and timely information to students, faculty, and alumni. Whether you need to register for classes, request a transcript, or apply for graduation, we are here to assist you.
Course Registration and Enrollment
Students can register for courses easily through the Student Portal. The registration system allows you to browse available courses, check prerequisites, and enroll in classes based on your academic plan.
How to Register for Courses:
- Log in to the Student Portal
- Navigate to the Course Registration section.
- Select your desired courses and verify prerequisites.
- Submit your registration and confirm your schedule.
- Review your registered courses under the My Schedule tab.
Important Registration Information:
- Course registration opens on [Insert Date] and closes on [Insert Date].
- Be sure to check for prerequisites and course availability before enrolling.
- If a course is full, you may join a waitlist (if available).

Transcript Requests
The Office of the Registrar maintains student records of academic progress. These records are available to active, withdrawn or graduate students upon request. All requests for official transcripts must be submitted in writing with a valid student signature releasing the information. There is a fee for official transcripts. Electronic or mailed in official transcripts are accepted. Please see the published fee schedule for cost of transcripts. Transcripts will not be released if the student or graduate has not met their financial obligations to the College.
Graduation Requirements
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Degree Requirements:
To be eligible for the MSN degree, students must meet all of the following requirements:
- Fulfill all program requirements.
- Satisfactorily complete all required courses and clinical experiences/competencies for the MSN degree and specialty program, including the required program predictor examination.
- Earn the minimum required credits and clinical clock hours for the selected clinical specialty program.
- Earn the minimum required credits and clinical mentorship clock hours for the degree.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
- Have no outstanding debt (tuition, fees, or other).
Transfer Credit & Academic Policies
Credits from prior learning, examination, standardized tests or transfer credits from another university/college to SMU is not available. SMU provides a detailed transcript of all courses attempted by students at any institution of the students’ choice. The request must be made in writing and payment received by SMU. All documentation will be made in the English language and is available electronically or via a written copy. Acceptance of the transfer credits is at the discretion of the receiving institution.
