While SMU does not participate in Title IV financial aid, students may explore private loans, employer reimbursement programs, and installment payment plans.

Does SMU accept transfer credits?

SMU does not accept transfer credits or credits from prior learning exams. Students must complete all program requirements through SMU.

What is the practicum requirement for the MSN program?

The Family Nurse Practitioner program requires 650 clinical practice hours, while the Nurse Educator track requires 120 hours. Healthcare Administration students also complete 120 practicum hours.

How long does it take to complete the MSN or MS programs?

The MSN and MS programs can typically be completed in four consecutive semesters, but the length may vary depending on the program and track chosen

Are the programs offered online?

All MSN and MS programs are offered 100% online, with a practicum component completed at designated clinical or administrative facilities

What are the admission requirements for the MSN program?

Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution, have an unrestricted RN license, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Additional requirements include one year of RN experience and a grade of C or better in an undergraduate statistics course.

Is SMU accredited?

The Commission licenses SMU for Independent Education (CIE), Florida Department of Education and is actively seeking accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
