Dear Graduate Candidate/Student:

Welcome to the Graduate Nursing and Healthcare Administration Programs at Shenandoah Medical University (SMU). The Graduate Nursing program, the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program at SMU, is actively seeking accreditation with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). It is designed to prepare qualified professional nurses for advanced nursing practice roles in caring for and managing adults and children. The program offers nurse practitioner concentration tracks in Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Educator, and Healthcare Administration.
The Graduate Programs at SMU subscribe to the notion that nurses are entrusted with the ultimate responsibility of leading change and advancing health through higher education levels and the ability to practice to the full extent of their education (IOM Report, 2010).
Your journey will be challenging but undoubtedly rewarding. If you are committed to advancing your leadership role in the nursing profession, Shenandoah Medical University is for you. Throughout the curriculum, you will be guided in self-development to pursue professional and scholarly endeavors, fulfill your professional aspirations, and answer the national call to lead change with excellence in healthcare care.
The Graduate Faculty at SMU commends your decision to join our program, lead change, and advance health. Sincerely

Joy Mowett-Fuller DNP, PhD, APRN, FNP-BC
